Sifting through the remnants of a mans life is so very hard to do

In a shoe box filled with letters lay the photographs of people that he knew

There's a picture of a young girl of golden hair and eyes of emerald green

and his letters tell me of the love for the sweetest sight his eyes had ever seen

and wiping off the dust that has collected over time its there i see

There's a row of silver medals that reminds me of the man I used to be

At nineteen he was a soldier young at heart they sent him off to war

where his brothers fell beside him but their memories he would keep forever more
