where I helped to inspire a clever young muse

and his idea was quite sane
to put the names of all the elements to music
the rare earth metals and the chalcogens
the lanthanides and halogens
Tom sang our names in patter song
giving each of us our due
but at the time the most recent
discovery was element 102

Named to honor alfred nobel
who invented dynamite as well
as owning several weapons plants
that supplied Eurasia with armaments
when it came time for him to die
reflections on his legacy
a foundation is what he did decide
to promote advances in science and peace

Nobelium Nobelium my noble name is sung with pride
Nobelium is the 10th transuranic actinide
Very little is known about the things that I can do
and the quantities of me produced are incredibly minute

All the isotopes of me have half lives shorter than an hour
so I can't even be tested for providing nuclear power
