Thulium was discovered by Swedish chemist
Per Teodor Cleve in 1879
Naturally occuring Thulium is comprised
entirely of the stable isotope Tm-169

The rarest of the rare earth elements

named for the town of Thule in Scandinavia

about 7 thousandths of a percent in monazite
Thulium won't purify without puttin up a fight
Finally isolated in 1911 by the expat Charles James
when he performed his famous 15000 operation

reduce my oxide with lanthanum
or a closed container calcium reduction
but there's no commercial use for me
so why bother with my purity
