Englebert Humperdink Love is a Many Splendored Thing Lyrics
S. Fain, P.F. Webster)
Love is a many splendored thing
It's the April rose that only grows in the early spring
Love is nature's way of giving a reason to be living
The golden crown that makes a man a king
Once on a high and windy hill
In the morning mist two lovers kissed and the world stood still
Then your fingers touched my silent heart and taught it how to sing
Yes, true love's a many splendored thing
Love is nature's way of giving a reason to be living
The golden crown that makes a man a king
Once on a high and windy hill
In the morning mist two lovers kissed and the world stood still
Then your fingers touched my silent heart and taught it how to sing
Yes, true love's a many splendored thing

Love Is A Many Splendored Thing; Words & Music by Paul F. Webster & Sammy Fain; Recorded by The Four Aces, 1955 (#1 for 6 weeks, on charts for 20). The song was the t__le song of the film.
"Occasionally, however, the t__le song concept would come up trumps, never more so than in 1956's Love Is A Many Splendored Thing. Sammy Fain and Paul Francis Webster produced a brilliantly romantic ditty that has outlived the spectacular Cinemascope film for which it was written."
LOVE IS A MANY SPLENDORED THING; Released: August 10, 1955 (20th Century Fox) Cast: Jennifer Jones (as Han Suyin), William Holden, Torin Thatcher, Isobel Elsom, Murray Matheson, Virginia Gregg.
"Based on the memoirs of Han Suyin, this is the story of an Eurasian doctor's tragic love affair with an American correspondent. Although the love story is the central theme, the film also touches on the subjects of the Korean War, communism and race relations.
Jennifer Jones is radiantly beautiful in this film. Her makeup (by Ben Nye) was incredible and gave her the Oriental look that was perfect for her character. Her dresses were also lovely and the film won an Academy Award for Costume Design. The film received two more Academy Awards for Best Song (it was a huge hit, written by Sammy Fain and Paul Francis) and Best Score."
