Hello everybody! Welcome to the EnglishBlog. In this podcast, you'll be learning some interesting English quotes from famous travelers.
Before starting, let me first explain that you'll be listening to some interesting travel quotes, followed by an explanation of their meaning.
So let's start!

Man: T.S.Elliot said "The journey not the arrival matters."
Woman: This quote means that you should enjoy the journey to where you are going as much as arriving at your destination.
For example:
Man: Aah look at the queues for check in, they are so long.
Woman: Relax, and enjoy the journey, we're finally going on holiday, we'll be there soon.

Man: G.K.Chesteron said "The traveller sees what he sees, the tourist sees what he has come to see."
Woman: A traveller is a person who is travelling or who often travels. A tourist is a person who visits a place for pleasure. This quote refers to the difference between independent travelers, who don't just go to one resort, they like to be free to absorb many things, whereas, a tourist goes on holiday to a place for a specific reason.
Now listen to this example:
Man: We've been in Egypt 2 days, and we still haven't been to the pyramids.
Woman: Stop being such a tourist, we'll visit them tomorrow, look at all the other beautiful things we've seen and done.

Man: D.D.Runes said "People travel to faraway places, to watch in fascination, the kind of people they ignore at home."
Woman: To travel around the world now is a lot cheaper, so people go to faraway places, such as the Far East, Asia and the Caribbean on holiday, where they are astonished of the beauty, yet, in their own home countries they ignore these nationalities.
For example:
Man: Mmm, this food is delicious.
Woman: I know, but, we have a Thai restaurant at home, but you always refuse to go there.
Man: Well now I know it's such great food, I promise to try it out when we return.
