Peyton: Okay for those of you who fear change, you better hide under the covers because we're gonna shake things up a little bit for tonight's podcast. That's right, we have a very special guest in the studio and by studio, I mean my bedroom, and by special guest I mean the one and only Haley James Scott, who by the way looks totally hot right now.
Haley: Ooh, well thank you, you too.
Peyton: Um... yeah right. She's a really good singer folks, BAD liar.
Haley: Haha
Peyton: Let me set the scene for you Pod-people out there. Haley is over here, totally dolled up. Perfect hair, perfect make-up and I'm sitting here in sweats and a Lita 4 t-shirt, no make up and my hair like a bird nested in it.
Haley: Oh please, you always look good, what are you talking about? Oh my God, by the way, how weird is it that Deb like totally stole your old hairstyle?
Peyton: No, you really think so?
Haley: Yeah, definitely!
Peyton: Oh, it's okay. I wasn't using it anymore.
Haley: Haha, well don't worry I won't actually talk about hairstyles in the real Podcast.
Peyton: What do you mean?

Haley: Like, I'll just talk about music and stuff when we actually start recording.
Peyton: Haley, we are recording... right now.
Haley: Shut up, we are not! Naw, I thought this was like, a practice run-through, like Pod-rehearsal or something!
Peyton: No, no, calm down, I'll can just edit it out, it's okay.
Haley: Oh okay, oh God. So - okay! That's great, all I need is my mother-in-law to think that I'm -
Peyton: What, bashing her new haircut?
Haley: No, no, I mean she really looks great and you looked great when it was your hairstyle -
Peyton: Right.
Haley: And oh my God, are we still recording?
Peyton: Never stopped.
Haley: Great.
Peyton: Okay, all right, anyway, so, Haley, you're gonna be playing right here in Tree Hill, North Carolina.
Haley: Yes, that's right! I am playing this concert at this great club TRIC to benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Peyton: Stop it.
Haley: Hey congratulations seriously on the CD you're putting out. Oh, am I allowed to, like, pimp the CD you're putting out?
Peyton: Yes, yes you definitely are!
Haley: Okay, well it's like the ultimate mixtape CD, whatever!
Peyton: Yeah it is and you're on it!
Haley: Well, I'm just happy to be a part of the album, CD, disc, record, whatever.
Peyton: Check #13, did you see that?
Haley: Isn't 13 bad luck?
Peyton: No, I mean not when your song is rad as it is.
Haley: Well, you know I think my mom already like pre-ordered 15 copies of the CD on Amazon.
Peyton: Fifteen?!
Haley: YEAH.
Peyton: Well okay, no offence, I love her for it, but how many does she really need?
Haley: Have you seen the size of my family?! My mom bought copies for all my brothers and sisters, uh my mom's really proud that they rented the (???). You know, your - Ellie would be proud of you too, Peyton, it's awesome.
Peyton: Thanks. Okay but she wouldn't be proud of me if I sat here with a real-live rockstar and didn't actually interview you.
Haley: Well let's do it!
Peyton: Okay! All right, so you, my dear are like the real deal, you know, you sing and you play piano, guitar and you write your own stuff and it's not like the benefit's gonna be your first time on stage. You've actually been on tour with The Wreckers and um, Chris Keller.
Haley: Yeah, Chris Keller.
Peyton: Anyway, so how do you write your songs? Do you use personal experience? Do you pull from other people's experiences?
Haley: Well, both. I mean, for living in such a small town, we have a lot of drama in Tree Hill.
Peyton: No kidding, tell me about it.
Haley: Yeah, so there's plenty to draw from.
Peyton: Okay, so we talked a little about your song that's on Friends With Benefit CD, it's called "Halo" which - and I cannot stress this enough - is really really good, Haley. I love it.
Haley: Thanks.
Peyton: So why don't we tell everybody what the song's about?
Haley: Well, the song is about... Halo for me, is just about loving someone for their faults and not just for their strengths. It's like, it's just about recognizing that love isn't always a fairytale... but that's okay, I mean, that's how it's supposed to be and if it were a fairytale every single moment then the fairytale becomes ordinary, but that's just me. I mean, that's what I was thinking when I wrote it, but it doesn't mean that someone who hears it can't take something completely different away from it. I think that when an artist puts something out there, whether it's a song or a painting or a movie or whatever, it's just - it's no longer just theirs. It's everybody's. Obviously, I don't mean that in a music-piracy kind of way.
Peyton: No. Stealing BAD.
Haley: Yes, right, so... I guess what I mean is, a song can just have a meaning that's so clear to me but it can speak to someone else on a completely different level. So who's right? And I guess the answer is both of us are right.
Peyton: Even if it's Brooke thinking that Nada Surf is wrote a song about guy with an amputated arm?
Haley: Yeah... what?
Peyton: No, sorry, long story.
[Laughs]
Peyton: Okay you guys, I'm talking with Haley James Scott, and if you're gonna be in the area, you should definitely come by the show.
Haley: Yeah
