This song was first played 'live' acoustically on the UK tour in November 1994. The album version however was completely rearranged and a new end section added to be more sympathetic to the words. Joanne writing in early 1995: "It's exciting to be at this stage, hearing things develop from what they were at the early writing stage. This week we worked on a song called 'Inside my Heart'. This particular song is the result of a collaboration between myself and a very gifted poet and close friend of mine called Cindy Spear Polley who lives in Canada. The first time I read Cindy's poem 'Inside my Heart', I found myself singing it. Nearly all the lines that Cindy had written fitted exactly to the melody and we had been brought together in this way for His purposes."
