Marty Fulton left his house ten hours prior,
up all night as a semi driver.
Two states south his wife and sons are back in Texas;
the youngest one cried when he left them.
Oh,
and it's a long way back home.
But he knows
in a week he'll be close
to being back home.

He's so sleepy
wonders if he should pull over;
six more hours 'til he's in Dover.

His eyes shut for just a moment;

Smoking brakes, screeching tires,

a growing weight is in his chest,
as he wonders what is it that he has hit.

thrown from his car.
Marty jumps out of the truck to check his heart;

But strangely there's a peaceful smile on his face,
