The Story Behind The Song

As I set out to do final preparations for my first recording based on the worship songs I had written, I found myself longing to sing at least one song that hadn't been written or initiated by me. I've spent a big chunk of the last years encouraging and producing other worship leaders songs, because I want to be someone who releases others into their calling. And I was struggling with the idea of not doing any of that on this project . A few months before the live recording, Daphne played me a song that was really catching on at her church, which was written by Karen Padgett, one of the pastors and worship leaders at 'Friends Langley Vineyard'. The melody was so beautiful, and as soon as I heard the words, I imagined them being sung in English and Gaelic. At the time, I didn't know that Celtic spirituality is very important to Karen, and she had actually started writing the song on a trip to Scotland.

It was a real gift to have Kim McKevitt join us and sing and speak in Gaelic, and on the evening we recorded, we ended with Kim singing the chorus to this song, because I wanted to give the Irish the 'last word.'
