Σαν ακούσαν οι αρχόντοι του παιδιού την αφοβιά

as soon as the "lords" heard, of the lad's "fearlessness"
ξεκινάν με λύκου δόντι και με λιονταριού προβιά
/ xekinan me likou donti ke me liontariou provia
"commence", with (the) wolf's "tooth" amd with (the) lion's "hide"
απ' τον Τίγρη στον Ευφράτη, κι απ' τη γη στον ουρανό
/ ap' ton Tiyri ston Efrati, ki ap' ti yi ston ourano
from "Tiger" (river) to "Eyphrates" (river), and from the earth to the sky
κυνηγάν τον αποστάτη να τον πιάσουν ζωντανό

Πέφτουν πάνω του τα στίφη, σαν ακράτητα σκυλιά

και τον πάνε στο χαλίφη να του βάλει την θηλειά

in a month's (time), in a year's (time), (the prophet and the lad) "see" before them, Allah
που απ' τον ψηλό του θρόνο λέει στον άμυαλο Σεβάχ:

that, from his "high" throne, "says" to "senseless" Sinbad :
«νικημένο μου ξεφτέρι δεν αλλάζουν οι καιροί,

με φωτιά και με μαχαίρι πάντα ο κόσμος προχωρεί»
